Ourson Films announces that pre-production on B. P. Paquette's THE ANONYMOUS RUDY S. to commence in February 2008
[more...]
In his video-taped fan-mail letters to local weather girl Melanie Sarah, the ingenuous Rudy S. refers to himself as a "good" stalker. The increasingly odd, obsessive, and perhaps even psychotic confessions caught on video unmask the unbelieveable. "This film is nothing without David Schaap," said producer Jason Ross Jallet about the actor who plays the title role. Schaap is a New York born actor who now lives in Montreal. In Canada, he started in the film industry coaching Canadian and Quebec actors to sound more like their Amercian neighbours to the south. Schaap grew up in Long Island, N.Y., and knows well how an accent can limit anactor’s range. Range, however, is not a problem for Schaap. With parts in such Hollywood blockbusters as THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and THE SUM OF ALL FEARS and notable Quebec productions like 15 FÉVRIER 1839, Schaap is a veritable character's actor. Give him something to chew on, no matter the size, and he will impressively sink his teeth. "I'm so lucky," said writer-director Paquette, "Schaap is a relative unknown, so no one will know what the hell hit them when they see his performance - it's guaranteed to stain your mind."

Montreal, Tuesday April 24 2007
Ourson Films announces that pre-production on B. P. Paquette's FIDELITY to commence in May 2007
[more...]
What is FIDELITY about? "Think of a Russian doll," said writer-director B.P. Paquette. "The figure, of course, contains within it increasingly smaller versions of itself, but they are not necessarily identical. One may, for example, wear a costume that is red, the next green, the third blue, and so forth. Or while their costumes may remain the same, each doll will carry something different. Essentially, however, each doll is painted differently with specific details depicting a kind of scene. When all told, these scenes become a kind of story. FIDELITY is a kind of Russian doll. There are many kinds of realities in FIDELITY, each depicting similar versions of itself, but they are never identical." Stay tuned for more details.

In addition, THE WOMAN OF AHHS is filled with a variety of music and songs, eclectic cinematography by ace cameraman Ivan Gekoff (from Andrei Tarkovsky's STALKER), and a provocative dance triad by distinguished Cirque du Soleil choreographer Debra Brown. Produced by Ourson Films with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, THE WOMAN OF AHHS is an English-language, fiction, color film that was shot in Montreal and Toronto on 6 varieties of both video and film formats.

Only Melora Koepke, from the other English-language weekly HOUR, had reservations, offering, "If puzzles and ambivalence are your bag, then Jack Richards is a godsend." 01-07 2006!

Toronto film critics are near unanimous in their disdain for A YEAR IN THE
DEATH OF JACK RICHARDS.
"They were not critical as much as they were derisive," said filmmaker
Paquette of the film critics at the daily GLOBE AND MAIL, NATIONAL POST,
TORONTO SUN and the weekly NOW MAGAZINE. "Don't get me wrong, I am
obviously very disappointed with their reaction. However, had their severe
derision not been so uniformly inept and trivial, I would have been hurt
or angry. As it is, I am more curious about their reaction than anything
else." Absurdly, the daily TORONTO STAR refused to even attend the
press-screening. EYE WEEKLY's Adam Nayman was the only critic in Toronto
who was not only respectful, but actually favoured the film. A YEAR IN THE
DEATH OF JACK RICHARDS plays from November 10-16 2006 at the Carlton
